The Bill Barnett Legacy Fund
Honoring Our History. Building Our Future.
All former aquatics athletes and program supporters have the opportunity to purchase their own plaque to be displayed on the wall by donating to the Bill Barnett Legacy Fund – a fitting way to leave a lasting impact on a program that has made a lasting impact on all of us.
Each plaque is $500, and there are multiple ways to participate – either by purchasing an individual plaque, a combined plaque celebrating a specific graduating class, or even a plaque to honor a teammate who is no longer with us. The goal is to have every former aquatic athlete represented somewhere on the wall, creating a lasting document and a powerful reminder of Newport Harbor’s unparalleled aquatic history and tradition. And it is a story that will continue to grow as future Newport Harbor student-athletes write their own chapters and add their own plaques to the wall.
The Bill Barnett Legacy Fund will support the continued growth and sustainability of the Newport Harbor Aquatics program. The use of proceeds from the campaign include:
By claiming a place on the Legacy Wall, you will not only be preserving a lasting connection to Newport Harbor’s past, but you will also help put the program on solid ground for the next generation.
Let’s celebrate where we came from – and make sure the best is yet to come for those following in our footsteps!
An Added Benefit to Legacy Fund Donors
As a Supporter, Your Name Will Be Proudly Displayed on a Commemorative Plaque on Our Legacy Wall —And Now You’ll Also Take Home a Piece of Our History: A Finished Section of the Original Bleachers, Engraved with Your High School Cap Number
When the pool was closed for remodeling last year, program parent Jason Price salvaged rows of wood from the original bleachers. From these, he crafted 9" x 5.5" keepsakes for graduating seniors. Each piece of bleacher wood is sanded, varnished, and branded with the athlete’s cap number, along with a short narrative highlighting Newport Harbor’s rich tradition of success—22 CIF titles, 8 World Championships, and Olympic Games appearances.
Jason has now graciously offered to create additional mementos (while supplies last) for contributors to the Bill Barnett Legacy Fund—each personalized with your (or your honoree’s) high school cap number. If you have already donated, you will, of course, receive your keepsake as a thank-you for your support.
Thanks Jason!
CIF Champs!
Per CIF regulations, no athlete is required to pay for participation in a high school sponsored sport. The Aquatics program, however, gets minimal funding from the School District. As a result, we encouraged you to contribute to the Newport Aquatics Boosters and support your child's experience. Your donations allow us to continue to run a first class program with an unmatched coaching staff. Newport Aquatics families have a long history of 100% participation, this level of involvement is crucial for the enduring success of our program.
Newport Aquatics Boosters is a 501C3 all volunteer organization.
